Lost or broken Invisalign aligner?

Quick answer

What should I do if I lose or break an Invisalign aligner?

In the meantime, usually wear your previous aligner to hold your teeth in place, or move on to the next one if you were near the end of the current stage and it fits without gaps. Do not go without aligners for more than a day, as teeth can start to move back quickly.

What you need to know

Always keep your last set of aligners in their case — they are your back-up. If the next aligner feels very tight or does not seat fully, go back to the previous one and let us know. Forcing a tray that does not fit can stall treatment.

Most lost aligners are wrapped in a napkin at a meal and thrown away, or left on a tray at work. Put them straight in the case every time. Pets, especially dogs, also like chewing them.

A replacement aligner can be ordered if needed. A cracked tray that still fits can often be worn until the next stage. For daily tips see eating and drinking with Invisalign and Invisalign in West Byfleet.
