The household test

Four places at the table. One practice.

Most “family dentists” mean “we also see children”. We mean the whole household can stay here as people grow, grind, chip, straighten and replace teeth — without starting again somewhere else.

  • Place 10 – 12

    Little ones

First teeth, first visits, no drama

We count milk teeth, paint on fissure sealants, and make the chair a known place — not a threat. Most children leave with a sticker, not a story they dread repeating.

    Children's dentistry
  • Place 213 – 18

    Teens

Alignment, sports, and a smile they will actually wear

We watch jaws grow, talk honestly about Invisalign Teen versus waiting, and make custom mouthguards that stay in during rugby — unlike the boil-and-bite ones in the PE bag.

    Teen aligners & retainers
  • Place 3Busy adults

    Parents

The people who book everyone else first

Check-ups, Saturday hygiene, white fillings, whitening, emergency slots before 10am. You keep the household running. We keep your own mouth from becoming the last thing on the list.

    Adult check-ups
  • Place 4Later life

    Grandparents

Comfortable chewing, clear speech, no rush

Gum care, implants, dentures, and the time to talk through options without a clock over the chair. Many of our older patients have been with us longer than some of our dentists have been qualified.

York House Dental Practice treatment room in West Byfleet

We are a family looking after families. That is not a slogan we workshopped. It is how the appointment book has looked since the 1970s.

A family dentist that still behaves like a family practice

Chains can print “family dentistry” on the fascia. What patients from West Byfleet, Woking and Weybridge actually notice here is continuity: the same clinicians, unhurried explanations, and a practice that still knows whose child is whose.

Start with a check-up, achildren’s visit, orregister as a new patient. If someone is in pain, use the emergency dentist line the same morning.

  • One roof, not four waiting lists

Children, teens, parents and grandparents can all be patients here. You are not driving to a paediatric clinic in one town and a private practice in another.

  • The same faces, year after year

We are a third-generation family practice, not a rotating associate mill. Your dentist learns the household — who is anxious, who has a sports fixture, who needs a night guard.

  • We do not do the 'just relax' speech

Nervous adults and cautious children get time, explanation, and control of the appointment. Dr Marta Amin has a particular interest in putting anxious patients at ease.

  • Prevention before the big invoice

Fissure sealants, hygiene, gum checks and honest recall intervals. The cheapest dentistry is the treatment you never needed because we caught it early.

Where most families begin

Bring the child first. The adults usually follow.

A calm first visit for a four-year-old is often how a parent who has avoided the dentist for a decade walks back in. We planned it that way: paediatric care lives in the same rooms as adult dentistry, not in a separate brand.

Your first morning

What registering a family actually involves

  1. 01

    Tell us the household

Who is coming, who is nervous, who has a match on Saturday. Reception will try to sit siblings or parent-and-child on the same morning where diaries allow.

  2. 02

    Park and walk in

Lavender Park Road, KT14 6ND — a residential street, not a high-street scramble. Free on-street parking. The practice is calm on purpose.

  3. 03

A proper look, then a plan

Exam, gum check, oral cancer screening for adults, and X-rays only when they earn their place. You leave with findings in plain English and written fees before anything starts.

  4. 04

    Decide without a hard sell

Take the plan home. Book hygiene, a filling, or nothing yet. Family dentistry here is a long relationship, not a one-visit conversion.

Questions families actually ask

Family dentist West Byfleet FAQs

What does a family dentist in West Byfleet actually mean?

It means one private practice that can look after children, teenagers, adults and older relatives under the same roof — check-ups, prevention, restorations, orthodontics, implants and emergency care — without sending you across Surrey for each generation.

Can we book the whole family on the same day?

Often, yes. Ask reception when you call. We regularly sit a parent and child, or siblings, on the same morning. It is not always possible at short notice, but we try — it is one of the practical reasons families stay.

How much does a family dental check-up cost?

A child consultation is £25. A routine adult examination is £52. A new-patient adult exam is £65, or £35 on Wednesday mornings between 9am and 11am with Dr Kaveet Patel (limited slots). Hygiene starts from £77. You receive written fees before any treatment.

Are you an NHS family dentist?

No. York House Dental Practice is a private family dentist in West Byfleet. That is why appointments run longer, you see the same clinicians, and treatment options are not limited to the NHS tariff.

Do you accept new family patients from Woking, Weybridge and Cobham?

Yes. We welcome new private patients from West Byfleet, Byfleet, Woking, Weybridge, Cobham, Addlestone and across Surrey. Routine availability is typically within one to two weeks; emergency slots are usually same-day if you call early.

When should children have their first dental visit?

When the first milk tooth appears, or by their first birthday — whichever comes first. Early visits are about familiarity, not treatment. See our children's dentist page for age-by-age care, sealants and sports guards.

Can nervous parents and nervous children be seen here?

Yes. Tell us when you book. We explain each step, we do not rush, and you stay in control. Many adults who avoided the dentist for years start again here because their child already trusts the chair.

Do you have Saturday appointments for working families?

Hygienist appointments run on Saturday between 9am and 1:30pm. Weekday hours are typically 8:30am–5:30pm, with Saturday mornings 9am–2pm. The Wednesday £35 new-patient exam is 9–11am only.

Is there parking at the practice?

Yes. The practice is on Lavender Park Road with free on-street parking. It is a residential setting, which families often prefer to a high-street clinic.

Do you offer membership plans for families?

Yes. Membership spreads the cost of routine examinations and hygiene and is designed for people who want predictable preventive care. See our membership page or ask reception which plan fits your household.

What is the difference between your family dentist page and the children's dentist page?

This page is the household hub — how three generations use one practice. The children's dentist page is the paediatric detail: first visits, fissure sealants, fluoride, teen alignment and sports mouthguards. Start here if you are registering a family; go there if you are booking a child.

Can grandparents who wear dentures or need implants join too?

Yes. We provide gum treatment, dentures, bridges and dental implants at the same address. Many households keep three generations with us precisely so older relatives are not treated as a separate 'problem'.

Register the household. Keep the Sunday table intact.

Book online, or call 01932 348864 and tell us who is coming — child, parent, or three generations.
