How long do dental implants last?

Patients ask this because implant adverts talk about permanence. The honest version: the implant (the root replacement in bone) can integrate and stay stable for many years. The visible tooth — the crown — wears like any other restoration. Grinding, smoking, uncontrolled gum disease and missed hygiene visits shorten both.

At York House we plan implants with a CBCT scan, quote from £2,500 including the crown for a single tooth, and show you how to clean around the implant before you leave. Full-arch and All-on-4 cases need the same discipline, just on a larger scale.

If a crown chips years later, the implant underneath can often be restored again. That is still a success — not a failure of the original surgery.
