Whitening: at-home vs in-practice
Boutique is a home-tray system with a dentist-prescribed gel. Enlighten is a more intensive protocol that includes an in-practice element and is aimed at a very pale, even result. Neither is a substitute for hygiene if the staining is tartar.
Whitening does not change the colour of crowns, veneers or many fillings. If those show after bleaching, we will say so before you start. Sensitivity is common and usually settles; we can adjust wear time.
Shop kits are weaker and less well fitted. They are not illegal, but they are a poor comparison with dentist-supervised whitening. See our whitening page for the two systems side by side.
